I’m Pankaj Joshi — father of three, mechanical engineer, and a Brampton neighbour for 28 years. I’m running to be the trustee who shows up, listens, and speaks up for our students and families.
Why I’m running
Our schools need a steady local voice
Peel’s public schools have been under provincial supervision since January 2026, and the trustee role itself has been scaled back. Decisions that shape our children’s days are being made further and further from the families they affect.
That is exactly when a ward needs someone present: at the meetings, at the school gate, on the phone. I’m running because schools should be judged by what students achieve, how safe they feel, and how well families are heard — and because somebody has to keep asking.

Academic excellence
Raise EQAO standards
Work towards raising EQAO standards to the level of neighbouring municipalities such as Mississauga and Oakville, with a strong focus on student achievement and academic outcomes.

OSAP grants
Keep education within reach
Don’t let the high cost of post-secondary education decide our children’s future. I will advocate for restoring provincial OSAP grants to 85%, so our youth can pursue their dreams and aspirations without financial barriers.

RLCP transportation
Equal access for every student
The Regional Learning Choices Program (RLCP) supports students from Grade 6 through Grade 12. Why should transportation support stop at Grade 10? I will work to extend bussing services to Grades 11 and 12, so RLCP students from our community have equal access to school transportation regardless of their grade.

Safe schools & stronger communities
Tackle drugs, vaping & bullying
I will work to address the rise in bullying, drugs and the easy accessibility of drugs and vaping products around our schools. I will also advocate for responsible limits on excessive social media use, and work on traffic congestion around PDSB schools — selected police presence at appropriate times could help deter drug activity and encourage safer driving at pickup and drop-off.

Respect for teachers, parents and neighbours should be a core part of every student’s education. Let’s promote respect, responsibility and positive behaviour as essential values in our schools and communities.

About
Pankaj Joshi
I came to Canada in 1996 as a mechanical engineer and have spent nearly three decades in the profession. Brampton has been home for 28 years — 22 of them here in Ward 10, where my wife and I raised our three children.
Since 2019 I have been active in community leadership: mentoring young people, supporting families, and helping strengthen the neighbourhoods around our schools.
I’m not a career politician. I’m a parent and an engineer: I ask for the numbers, look for the practical fix, and follow up until something actually changes. That is what I will bring to the board table for Wards 9 & 10.
My promise — listen, advocate, deliver: every board meeting attended, regular town halls in our wards, and every call and email answered within two business days.

Monday, October 26, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., at your assigned voting place in your ward.
Friday Oct 9 to Sunday Oct 11, and Friday Oct 16 to Saturday Oct 17. During advance voting you can vote at any advance location in Brampton.
One piece of ID showing your name and your Brampton address — a driver’s licence, health card or utility bill all work.
To vote for a Peel District School Board trustee you need to be on the list as an English public school supporter. Check or update it at brampton.ca or call 311.
Voting places, wait times and the full candidate list are on the City of Brampton’s election pages. If you can’t get to a poll, ask the City about voting by proxy or home voting — applications close early October.
